I stood there, amazed at the destruction the train left in its wake. It had burst from the road, curved down, and skidded along tracks that were forming from the solid concrete below it. Each chunk of rocky earth slowed in the air and eventually stopped moving entirely. They just hung there as if someone was holding them. "All aboard!" Someone shouted from the train. I turned to see someone get on the mysterious train. It was the girl from the bus. I quickly dashed to follow her. I arrived at the steps to get on the train and sprung up them. A hand suddenly rached out and stopped me from advancing. "Name?" It was the voice from earlier. I looked up and saw a tall, pale man in a blue uniform with shades over his eyes. "Name," the man asked again. "Barom - Barom Ponaca." The man's hand fell and he let me trough. "Barom Ponaca... that name sounds familiar. Have you died before?" "Pardon me?" I asked with shock. Am I dead? "Died," the man said straight-forwardly. "You know, as in gone to heaven?" "Not that I know of..." The man slowly rubbed his scruffy beard and took of his shades. "Strange," he said, leaning forward, "let me get a better look at you." The strange man's eyes were completely glaszed over, the blue color in them looked cracked, and his pupils seemed to swirl. "But you're blind," I said nervously. "That doesn't mean I can't see." I had no idea what he ment, but suddenly a high pitched buzzing sound filled my right ear. I winced and grabbed the side of my head as pain followed the noise. It was as if someone was drilling into my mind. "Oh my..." the man murmered. He put his glasses back on and the pain and noise left my head. "Follow me." The man in the blue uniform slid open the door we were next to as he gave the train drivers the go ahead to leave. I followed him inside the train as it started moving... into the air. He lead me to a booth and motioned for me to sit down. I did so and he walked away. I shrugged and turned to look out the window, but stopped as I saw the girl I was following sitting in front of me. Her curly, amber hair seemed to rise as her now red eyes widened with surprise. She seemed to blush for a moment before she turned away quickly to look out the window. I cocked my eyebrows quizically, shrugged again, folded my arms then fell asleep for the rest of the ride. | |
